Casey was co-founder and Senior Writer of Careerwriters, Inc., a professional writing service in a suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. He sold the business, moved to downtown Chicago, and worked as a freelance writer for people and businesses needing his services.

After his early retirement, Casey and his family moved to Wisconsin's lake country, where the water is dark, smooth, cool, and deep. Casey's spouse enjoys watching mystery movies, especially cozies. When Casey told her he could write better ones, she laughed. That was all the motivation Casey needed.
